What to Do if Injured at Work
Here are a few tips on what to do if you are injured at work:
- Do not wait to report your injury. To protect your rights, report your injury to your supervisor as soon as possible and in writing if possible.
- Make sure you tell your supervisor you were injured: How, what where and when.
- Get prompt medical attention from a health care provider authorized by the employer.
- Inform your employer about your medical condition and when you can return to work.
Your employer can not take the cost of workers’ compensation insurance from your wages; nor prevent you from filing for workers’ compensation benefits; nor threaten you or take action against you for filing for benefits and hiring an attorney.
